New GST Rate List 2025
The GST council has revised the rate list on Wednesday .As per hindustan times ,Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said all decisions were taken unanimously, with no disagreement from any state.
She said,”We’ve reduced the slabs. There shall be only two slabs, and we are also addressing the issues of compensation cess”(sic).
She also Added,”hese reforms have been carried out with a focus on the common man. Every tax on the common man’s daily use items has gone through a rigorous review and in most cases the rates have come down drastically.(sic)”
Chandrima Bhattacharya ,the west bengal minister said that the gst will be applied from 22nd September 2025 which will lead to an estimated revenue loss of 477 billion rupees.

A special 40 per cent slab is also proposed for a select few items such as high-end cars, tobacco and cigarettes.
Items under 0% GST Rates
- 33 Life-saving drugs and medicines, Cancer medicines, Medication for rare diseases.
- Maps, Charts, Globes, Pencils, Sharpeners, Crayons, Pastels, Exercise Books, Notebooks, Erasers.
- Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) milk, Chena or paneer, pre-packaged and labelled, Pizza bread, Khakhra, Chapathi or Roti.
- Individual life insurance, Health policies.
Food Items With Zero GST-New GST Rates
- All types of chapatis and paranthas
- Ultra-high temperature (UHT) milk
- Paneer
- Pizza bread
- Khakhra
Items With Reduced GST of 5%
- Butter and ghee
- Dry nuts
- Condensed milk
- Sausages and meat
- Sugar-boiled confectionery, jams and fruit jellies
- Tender coconut water
- Namkeen
- Drinking water in 20-litre containers
- Ice cream, pastries, biscuits, cereals and sugar confectionery
- Other fats and cheese will also now attract 5% GST, down from 12%.
